Skin Care from Mother Nature
We have created some wonderful, affordable organic and all-natural products for you and your family. Many of our products are 100% organic. We do not add any harsh chemicals to any of our products. We only use 100% pure vegetable oils and the highest quality ingredients available. They may cost a little more to us, but the final outcome is worth it. We don't sell anything to you that we don't use on a daily basis.
Your skin is your largest organ. It shields your bones, muscles, and blood vessels. It is not only a regulator of fluid balance and body temperature but is also the passageway for excreting toxins and absorbing moisture and nutrients.Your skin absorbs everything you put on it to some degree.
Why use Homemade Soap?
Big soap manufacturers extract the natural glycerin from the soap and sell it to you in lotions. Basically, when you purchase a bar of soap from the store, it’s not really soap but actually, a harsh detergent bar filled with chemicals and petroleum products. This is why your skin may feel dry and itchy after using it. Our soaps are hand-made with tried and true recipes. We make them only from the purest ingredients of palm, coconut, and olive oils. Some are also enriched with the emollient properties of shea butter and cocoa butter. It doesn’t get any simpler than that. Handmade soap is special because it retains the natural glycerin created during the soap-making process. Glycerin prevents the skin from feeling dry and itchy. These soaps will leave your skin feeling soft and silky. Once you’ve tried handmade soaps, you will never want to go back to store bought, synthetic detergent bars again.
When you are comparing prices, please notice our Soap Bars are 4 to 5.5 oz Big. Most homemade/handcrafted sites are only offering you a 3 oz bar.
Caring for Your Soap
To ensure long life of your soap bar, use a soap dish that allows complete drainage of water from underneath the bar. Never allow your soap to sit in water otherwise it will soften and can turn into a liquid mess.
If you see a “dew” on your soap, its OK. Homemade soap retains its glycerine, and glycerine is hydroscopic, meaning that it absorbs moisture from the air. This can occur in humid areas. This is normal and is a natural reaction of high glycerin soap in a humid environment. The glycerin in the soap actually pulls moisture out of the air, making for a soap that is not drying to the skin and does not affect the quality of the soap in any way. There is nothing wrong with your soap! Washing with the soap removes the surface dew.
New Soaps: Keep soap in a dry place. Soaps should stay wrapped up until you are ready to use them to retain their fragrance and quality. We suggest you use your soap within 6 months for the best fragrance.
Essential Oils and Premium Fragrance Oils
All of our products are offered with pure, Therapeutic Quality essential oils as a scent, but there are other choices available, for our customers who have asked for scents like Mango or Coconut. We make those products with premium fragrance oil. And it is your choice if you choice Essential or a Fragrance Oil.The essential oils we use are 100% pure steam distilled plant oils and are free of carriers, diluents and other inputs. They are all 100% Therapeutic Quality, from only the best suppliers.
But then there are just some scents that can not be captured through steam distillation, effleurage or pressing. Many plants actually have no scent whatsoever. That's where fragrance oils come in. When we can't find the scent we want in nature, we turn to fragrances for the answer. By blending aroma chemotypes and natural plant extracts (essential oils),our supplier creates a unique line of fragrance oils. Some scents are just not extractable from plants, such as strawberry and cucumber, and so we must turn to synthetic materials.Other scents, such as rose, are very costly. We use aroma chemotypes to mimic these fine scents. Our supplier specializes in fine fragrance oil duplications; they have been in business for years and are well known to the soap making community.
As mentioned on the about us page, but worth repeating:
This company was born when I read the ingredients on a bottle of baby wash I was using on my granddaughter. The list was about 3 inches long and I could not pronounce over half of the ingredients. So I started researching the ingredients in all the products I used on her and myself. I was appalled at what I found. All the so called trusted baby products were clock full of chemicals. We should not need a degree in chemistry to understand a product's ingredient label.
Here are just a few :
Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS)- CAUSES SKIN AND EYE IRRITATION! AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES, SKIN AND CLOTHING. THE MATERIAL WAS CLASSIFIED AS A MODERATE TO SEVERE EYE IRRITANT.Used in car washes, garage floor cleaners and engine degreasers - and in 90% of products that foam. (ie...soaps,shampoos) Animals exposed to SLS experience eye damage, central nervous system depression, labored breathing, diarrhea, severe skin irritation, and even death. Young eyes may not develop properly if exposed to SLS and ALS because proteins are dissolved. SLS and ALS may also damage the skin's immune system by causing layers to separate and inflame. It is frequently disguised in semi-natural cosmetics with the explanation "comes from coconut".
DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (Monoethanolamine) and TEA (triethanolamine) Often used in
cosmetics to adjust the pH, and used with many fatty acids to convert acid to salt (stearate), which
then becomes the base for a cleanser. TEA causes allergic reactions including eye problems, dryness
of hair and skin, and could be toxic if absorbed into the body over a long period of time. These
chemicals are already restricted in Europe due to known carcinogenic effects.
Dr. Samuel Epstein (Professor of Environmental Health at the University of Illinois ) says that
repeated skin applications . . . of DEA-based detergents resulted in a major increase in the
incidence of liver and kidney cancer
Alcohol, Isopropyl-A very drying and irritating solvent and dehydrator that strips your skin's natural
acid mantle, making us more vulnerable to bacteria, moulds and viruses. It is made from propylene,
a petroleum derivative. It may promote brown spots and premature aging of skin.
Lanolin- Any chemicals used on sheep will contaminate the lanolin obtained from the wool.
The majority of lanolin used in cosmetics is highly contaminated with organo-phosphate pesticides
and insecticides.
Talc- Scientific studies have shown that routine application of talcum powder in the genital area is
associated with a three-to-fourfold increase in the development of ovarian cancer. There is an
inextricable link between talc and asbestos; the two are virtually chemically identical.
Mineral Oil - Petroleum by-product that coats the skin like plastic, clogging the pores. Mineral oil, is made when gasoline and kerosene are removed from crude petroleum by heating. Then, using sulfuric acid, absorbents, solvents, and alkalis; hydrocarbons and other chemicals are removed leaving the final product, mineral oil. Interferes
with skin's ability to eliminate toxins, promoting acne and other disorders. Slows down skin function
and cell development, resulting in premature aging. Used in many products (baby oil is 100% mineral oil!)
Any mineral oil derivative can be contaminated with cancer causing PAH's
(Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons). Manufacturers use mineral oil because it is unbelievably cheap.
So, do some of your own research. Read the ingredients on your bath soaps, lotions, face scrubs
and baby products and see what you are using on your skin.
If you seek more information about the chemicals in your products and products you use on your children, email us and we can send you some links and printouts. When it comes to chemical exposure, children aren't just miniature adults. Their developing
bodies are vulnerable to toxic harm from small doses of any chemicals. Infants are about 100 times more sensitive than adults.
None of our products will have any of the above ingredients or other harsh chemicals in them.
